HW Business Law is an exciting and innovative business which offers owner managers a new choice for legal services.
In 2014 amidst much talk of alternative business structures a new enterprise was taking shape. In response to business owners’ requests for professional advice to be as seamless as possible; for solicitors to understand the commercial context of the deals and contracts on which they are advising and for accountants to be mindful of the potential legal implications of the advice they deliver, a team of experienced lawyers and accountants joined forces to create HW Business Law.
Victoria Boid, lawyer and co-founder says “from discussions with clients it became clear that business owners are frustrated by having to pull separate bits of advice together from a range of advisers who regularly fail to communicate effectively with one another, leaving owners with the burden of sifting through complex matters to extract what is most relevant and important.
Business owners want their professional advisers to work as a team, prevent time wasting and unnecessary fees and to provide quality advice that is commercially sound and focused. We listened to our key clients and created HW Business Law.
In recent years the legal industry, largely unchanged, has been stirred from slumber. Clients are demanding control, firms have to be agile and flexible, and new entrants are changing the way law is delivered. Boid adds “for us this created a once in a lifetime opportunity to innovate the ways we meet the very unique needs of the owner managed market. HW Business Law is a client driven business model for delivering legal and accountancy services.”
Boid continues “what we deliver is a menu of options that can be adapted to suit an individual client and their business needs. Because our partners focus on getting to know the client’s business first and develop a solid understanding of what a client is trying to achieve, we are able to ensure that our legal advice is delivered within a commercial framework. Our structure and pricing model means we are also able to ensure that clients benefit from the hands-on involvement of a partner throughout an assignment. ”
HW Business Law is building upon the principles of this business model; recruiting partners both in London and nationally, increasing our presence across the UK and developing and investing in our employees to ensure the advice offered to clients is consistent with the foundations of the firm.
Co-founder and chartered accountant Matthew Perry, comments: “having worked with owner managers for over 20 years one becomes attuned to owner ‘pain points’. For many of my clients legal services presented a huge headache and overhead. We realised that if we could streamline the process, extract the commercially relevant advice and help owners control the delivery and price of legal services we could significantly reduce this burden for our clients, so began the process to create HW Business Law.
Together we’ve created a firm that listens to its clients, incorporates feedback and is developing alongside its clients to offer a different approach to professional advice sought by SMEs in the commercial and corporate sectors.”
The firm is based in central London but services clients both locally and nationally. It is also developing international alliances for businesses that not only operate in the UK but also abroad. Boid concludes “, Market forces are shaping a new professional landscape, we’re taking advantage of the opportunity and our clients’ feedback indicates that we’re on the right track.”
